All Tide UpBy Phillip ValysPublished on October 11, 2007 at 12:00amSomewhere in Florida, a shrewd, pantyhosed seductress is tearing two brothers apart. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, considering love triangles are as common as the clap. But while savvier siblings would jilt the scheming coquette for someone less promiscuous, the numskull bros in playwright Juan Sanchez’s Red Tide didn’t get that memo. Parties involved with the production are keeping tight-lipped about rest of the plot, but unsubstantiated rumors have whispered that the title refers to another intertwining story line -- where algae blooms squirt highly poisonous pigments into the ocean, killing fish and mammals. Wait, a poisonous weed wrecking local habitats? That sounds like our aforementioned temptress. Intriguing metaphors aside, catch the play’s world premiere tonight at 8:30 p.m. through October 28 at the Mailman Hollywood Theatre (3301 College Ave., Davie). After curtain call, nosh on cheese and wine with the cast, and do try your damnedest to dodge the femme fatales. Tickets run $10 to $25. Call 786-317-7580, or visit www.theprometheantheatre.org.
