As a stand-up comic and Jewish mother of two, Judy Gold is infinitely qualified to dish on the idiosyncrasies of wiping schmutz off faces and schlepping children to school. But in her new off-Broadway play, 25 Questions For a Jewish Mother, Gold doesn’t just tackle stereotype. Instead, the one-woman show illuminates the nuanced role of women in Jewish culture thanks to Gold’s multi-faceted monologues. Between all the yucks, Gold assumes different personas, such as a Holocaust survivor and a grieving mother whose son has died from AIDS. And while jumping from Anne Schwartz to Anne Frank in a single monologue might seem like a wide chasm to cross, Gold makes the leap with effortless humility. The play won a 2006 Drama Desk Award, as well as GLAAD’s 2007 award for Outstanding New York Theater, so see what all the hype is about Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach). Shows run through November 4, and tickets cost $28. Call 561-832-SHOW, or visit www.kravis.org.
