Women On Men On Women

Inside Out Theatre’s second-to-last play, Manuscript, was about a conniving woman devoted to man’s ruin, and the men who avenged themselves against her. Then came The Faith Healer, about a woman ruined by a man too self-absorbed to notice. Both productions were jewels, tucked improbably away in the little theater in the Huizenga Art’s Park at The Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art (1 East Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). Nobody new to the place or to the company would imagine that this little operation, with a folding table manned by the company’s stage manager serving as a will-call “window,” had the chops to blow minds and break hearts. But they did, and damned near swept this paper’s “Best Of 2007” awards in the process. Now comes Irish novelist’s Edna O’Brien’s Triptych to continue Inside Out’s study of the terrible things men and women do to each other. The play follows three women — the wife, mistress, and daughter of a famous, and probably deeply evil, playwright — as suspicion and loneliness bring their lives into alignment – then fucks them all up. Expect great things at tonight’s preview performance (the official opening is on Saturday). Showtime’s at 8 p.m., and tix run from $10 to $30. Call 954-385-3060, or visit www.insideouttheatre.org.
Thursdays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: Oct. 25. Continues through Nov. 18, 2007
