All Good Things Must Come to an End

The days of the single cinematic plot line are over. Babel, Crash, and the television series Heroes have successfully tapped into our deep-running human desire to multitask. Midnight Clear is constructed in the same vein. Taking place on Christmas Eve, five very different characters weave and shoulder rub through one another’s stories until all collide in a universal climax. It’s also the closing night film of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, so wouldn’t it be cool if you attended and came to a universal understanding of your relationships with a video store clerk, that guy who did your mortgage, and your community college mentor, all of whom you accidentally bump into while clamoring for Stephen Baldwin’s autograph? (Would that be life imitating art imitating life?)

Yeah, that’s right. Stephen Baldwin. He’s one of the stars of Midnight, and he’ll be attending the screening (at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Theatre, 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd., Davie) and the after-party at the nearby Bergeron Rodeo Grounds. You can go to both for $35 or just the film for $10. Visit www.fliff.com.
