Baker completed his training, which included diversity and ethics, in June 2007. Lately, he's been receiving merit-pay bonuses on schedule, taking a leadership course. In February, Baker was chosen as a mentor for a new water plant employee, Leonard Perry. According to a document in Baker's file, mentors are "wise and trusted counselors" who oversee the orientation, training, and coaching of a new hire.

Dominik Orlando, director of Public Services, sent Baker a congratulatory memo. "Being selected as a mentor points to our confidence in your ability to set an example and provide leadership," he said.

It appears you did a cracker jack job of investigating Dania Beach, However, you appear to be in error when you cite Bobbie Grace as being the City's first black Mayor. Bobbie was the City's first black WOMAN Mayor. The honorable Chester Byrd (deceased) was not only Mayor but Commissioner back in the early 1980's. Mayor Byrd was not only a fine Mayor, leader and educator. He was an honest, fair, calm man as well as one of the nicest guys I ever had the pleasure of working with. He was instrumental in bringing change to the community during this time. There is a park named in his honor in the College Gardens Subdivision. Research is key here, you missed the workings of a real leader and positive community figure here.
