It's Been on Your Nightstand for a Decade

No, not that.

The holidays are a time for catching up with old friends, lettin’ ´em know how much you appreciate them and then getting wasted together. Since New Times considers you part of its O.G. crew, it’s only right that you’re invited to, like, the biggest party in Fort Lauderdale’s history: the New Times Ten Year Anniversary Mega Bash(aka: Lauderdale Mini presents New Times Tenth Anniversary Party sponsored by Pure Triumph and Bodies the Exhibition. Whew!)

Your trusty go-to source for all things fun and artsy has culled South Florida and found the top talent from every imaginable genre: Fashion, DJs, awesome live bands, underground cinema, local art, spoken word, live graffiti painting, belly and fire dance. It’s so ON. The best part? It’s happening in downtown Fort Lauderdale, right smack dab in the heart of nightlife’s epicenter at Voodoo Lounge (111 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale); you just show up with your entourage and take in the spectacle while scoring drink specials and shakin’ whatcha momma gave ya’.

Ten measly bucks (part of which gets kicked back to Art Serve, you do-gooder you) gets you access to five bands: Humbert, the Jean Marie, the AMAZING Dik Shuttle, Humo Rojo, and Empty Socket. Also, there’s a smorgasbord of artists showing their latest creations, in mediums ranging from acrylics to welded metal sculpture; six DJ’s to keep your booty droppin’; performance art in every imaginable form -- from belly dancers to poetic emcees; wonderfully bizarre cinematic works by Florida’s own Clifton Childree and Dan Hosker, a spectacular fire dance by Marina (our local kitsch goddess) and other fabulous surprises. Plus, you can salivate over (but please, not on) the Mini Cooper and Triumph motorcycles on display. There isn’t another party this big anywhere else, and New Times would tell you if there were – after all, you guys go back, like, ten years. This party starts at 9 p.m. and goes till midnight; get there early for freebies at the door; stay late and you get to see Exposé on the house.
