Always Let the Wookiee Win

When people belittle your comic book collection, you want to bulge through your checkered shirt and cutoff shorts, turn green, and release a throaty growl like Dr. Robert Bruce Banner (“They’re graphic novels!!!”). This weekend, there’s safety in numbers when Florida Comic-Con invades the Howard Johnson Resort and Conference Center(2096 NE Second St., Deerfield Beach). The guest list is inked in radness: Gene Ha (everything from X-Mento Justice League of America), Don Kramer (Batman, Aquaman, and many others), David Lloyd (V for Vendetta, Hellblazer, and other gnarly classics), and tons of other artists, writers, and creators.

But that’s not all. No! You can also shake the paw of Peter “Chewbacca” Mayhew or try to coax Fat Momma (Who Wants to be a Superhero) into giving you one of her love-filled donuts. There will also be Q&A panels, film screenings, and vendors galore, so that you can stock up on not-so-guilty pleasures.
