Nothin’ Says “Holidays” Like Bloodsports

Florida law doesn’t currently allow amateur MMA competitions, but it does allow kickboxing and grappling battles – which are violent enough to quench your bloodlust. This Saturday night, exactly that is happening at War Memorial Auditorium (800 NE Eighth St., Fort Lauderdale) when Left Hook Productions presents Warriors Collide III.

Expect to see between 12 and 15 battles (three of which will be just the ladies), with a grudge match topping the whole thing off. The testosterone bout du jour is a sanctioned International Sport Kickboxing Association title fight between heavyweight rivals Chris DeCaro (Bear’s Den) and Eric Rivera (American TKA). The last time the two battled the match was called a draw, but the win was awarded to Eric. Word around the dojo is that neither fighter is leaving Saturday’s decision up to the judges.

Get in on the grappling, kicking, and bloodletting this Saturday night at 6:30 p.m., tickets range $20 to $50. Visit www.ticketmaster.com.
