If theres a lesson to be learned from watching Before the Devil Knows Youre Dead, its this: Never have children. If you do, from the time they are small and asking to go on expensive field trips to when theyre old and hoping to solve their financial messiness by knocking off the family jewelry store the one you and your wife started and operated for the sole reason of giving them a better life they will not be satisfied until you are destroyed.
Quite possibly the most depressing movie ever starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and mind you, weve seen Happiness Dead explores how greed and vice can saturate a human, turning him into a soulless vacuum of dark matter. Extortion. Murder. Blackmail. Betrayal. Adultery. Its all fair game, and worse, its all family.
