If you do, from the time they are small and asking to go on expensive field trips to when they’re old and hoping to solve their financial messiness by knocking off the family jewelry store – the one you and your wife started and operated for the sole reason of giving them a better life – they will not be satisfied until you are destroyed.
Quite possibly the most depressing movie ever starring Philip Seymour Hoffman – and mind you, we’ve seen Happiness – Dead explores how greed and vice can saturate a human, turning him into a soulless vacuum of dark matter. Extortion. Murder. Blackmail. Betrayal. Adultery. It’s all fair game, and worse, it’s all family. Shake off the holiday spirit and fill yourself with two hours of evil at Sunrise Cinemas at Gateway (1820 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). Showtimes are 1:50, 4:45, and 7:15. Tickets range $6.75 to $8.50.
