Melbourne, Australia, is known for a lot of things to Americans: kangaroos, crocodiles, Outback Steakhouse, and, oh yeah, having good music from "down under." Most gringos don't really know what that "good music" is; we just hear that it's different and good. If you want to get an idea of what this means within the realm of electronic music, check out Aussie DJ Ean Sugarman as he spins a serious set of house this weekend at Gryphon Nightclub. Sugarman, based in South Florida these days, holds residencies at both Gryphon and Nikki Marina in Hollywood, and when he's not keeping dance floors packed until all hours of the morning, he's also making headway internationally as a sought-after remix producer. With his Sugardip collective, he's produced solid remixes of tracks by Mariah Carey, Ashley Tisdale, Enrique Iglesias, and more. He had the crowd off their face at the Autumn Music Festival last month, and if you want to hear some good house and electronica done right, his set this weekend isn't to be missed.
