Some people are crazy for animals: Cats, dogs, ferrets, sheep. Some people are crazy for television: Tyra, American Idol, Lost, Talk Sex with Sue Johanson. Still others are completely obsessed with food: Five spice spare ribs, Vietnamese pho, miso-glazed sea bass, ahi tuna poke. That last group of folks is in luck (the others are not, and should seek help for their unhealthy addictions) because the juggernaut of pan-Asian cuisine, Stir Crazy, is opening a new branch in Pembroke Pines (at 14571 SW Fifth St.).

The Vietnamese/Japanese/Chinese/Thai eatery is expanding outward from its sister location in the Boca Town Center Mall, hoping to quell the yen for wok-blasted eats in the deep south of Broward. Thursday at 11 a.m., Stir Crazy will kick open its doors for the first time, inviting all to taste their lemongrass-infused pork tenderloin; blazing wheat noodles with Fresno peppers, Thai basil, and spicy chili sauce; and over three dozen other artfully prepared dishes on their vast menu. In addition to the grub, there will be a ribbon “cleavering” and ceremonial firing of the woks at 11 a.m., and the joint will get loud when Taiko drummers and dragon dancers get wild in the dining room from 6 to 8 p.m. For a complete menu visit www.stircrazy.com, or call 954-919-4900.
