Every so often, a band comes along that refuses to be easily categorized. Jacksonville's Whole Wheat Bread is a great example. Listening to their music youll hear a brand of catchy, uptempo punk rock more frequently perfected by suburban white boys than by a Miami-raised Trinidadian transplant and his friends. Whatever the case, their blend of punk, rap, and crunk has thus far been a home run, earning them critical kudos, a growing fan base, opening slots for the likes of Rancid and Bad Brains, and a recent collaboration with rapper Lil' Jon.
Speaking of openers, Saturday's show also features Boca's own Fallen From the Sky, a group thats been making a name for itself through both its well-received Warped Tour performances, as well as being a top finalist on MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout.
Whole Wheat Bread performs Saturday, March 1st at Studio A (60 NE 11th St., Miami). The show starts at 6 p.m. and costs $10. Call 305-358-7601, or visit www.studioamiami.com.
