Happy Hump Day, dear reader, and congratulations to you for so gracefully surviving at least half of another workweek. Gritty, wily you — at this rate, I do believe you’ll make it to Saturday! Your remarkable stamina and easy optimism deserve some kind of celebration. Which is why a lot of us think you should know about the $5 martinis at Maison Carlos—

Well, no. That’s crap. Only two kinds of people go to a classy joint like Maison Carlos to swill $5 designer martinis in the middle of the workweek: alcoholics and bourgeois. But they can be lovely people, too, and it’s always nice to know that somewhere, lightly-toasted prettyfolk are sucking the things down, worried about nothing more pressing than whether to order the beef carpaccio or foie gras with pears. Martinis Dans la Cite runs every Wednesday at Maison Carlos (207 Clematis St., West Palm Beach), 6 – 8 p.m., and there are free hors d’oeuvres. Visit www.maisoncarlos.com for more information.
