Protect ya’ Neck

The Winter Music Conference blows into town tomorrow, and it’s going to tantalize you with a flurry of sights and sounds, and then it will leave you – alone and shaking in the gutter, fiending for more. We’re totally looking forward to that feeling, but you may be into something with a bit more longevity. Like Murk’d, a party that will love you tonight and every Thursday to come. “We’re trying to do something different because Miami doesn’t have a really good hip-hop party,” said Javier Ordonez, one of the night’s organizers. “On the whole South Beach scene, they play little jiggy rap that you hear on the radio, but that’s it.” He promises more. Like $3 tequila shots, a video installation from YouTube celeb Flipper, and DJ sets where Madame Turk and DJ Icue show off their turntable skills instead of just their extensive iPod collections. Sure, Nas said that hip-hop is dead, but from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. at PS14 (28 NE 14th St., Miami) you’ll realize that it didn’t get totally murk’d out. Admission is $5.
