Reptile Style
You’d love them if they weren’t so scaly… and didn’t hatch from eggs. But that’s the life of a misunderstood reptile. Not blessed with petting fur, the cold-blooded tetrapods receive only scorn and fear from their human counterparts. The Museum of Discovery and Science (401 SW Second St., Fort Lauderdale) is out to prove that once you get to know these little guys, you might just want to give ´em a big ol’ hug (although, in the case of alligators and crocodiles, a simple shout out will suffice).
If it’s the exoskeleton that gives you the squirmies, you’ll be shudder-free during Amazing Reptiles: Real and Robotic. Sure, there will be some live little fellows for you to check out, but the larger, more intimidating dudes (the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, the Indian Cobra, an 18-foot Nile crocodile, and a 15-foot alligator) all rely on WD-40 to keep their snappy selves in check.
