It’s a question that’s haunted us since the dawn of time: What would happen if Dancing With the Stars and American Idol merged? Holy shit. Would Earth implode? Would the time/space continuum rip, creating an interplanetary vortex that transports us all to another world where people’s heads are replaced by plates of spaghetti? Would random crowds break into spontaneous, choreographed song-and-dance sequences while shopping for groceries? Sadly, we may never know.

Tonight and tomorrow, however, we are one foxtrot closer to deciphering the result of a bi-primetime collision: Simply Ballroom is coming to Parker Playhouse (707 NE Eighth St., Fort Lauderdale). The sequin-laden performance features professional ballroom dancers shimmy-shaking their way through every imaginable dance genre while Debbie Reynolds and two former American Idol finalists (Anthony Fedorov and Vonzell Solomon) croon into their microphones centerstage. Tickets cost $39 to $59. Visit www.parkerplayhouse.com.
