The 1980s were the best time in the world to be a kid. Back then, we had cartoons galore Voltron, He-Man, Jem, G.I. Joe, Care Bears, and the Smurfs, to name a few each spawning a whole line of toys and clothing. Yes, it was the heyday of nefarious corporate merchandising, but it was a whole lot of fun playing with the Red and Blue Lions while watching it on TV.

More About
Mikey Buoni is a student of ΄80s pop-culture and an avid lover of toys. He collected so many from Star Warsfigures to Transformers to Barbie and Ken dolls he decided to start selling them at toy conventions. Soon the South Florida conventions dried up, but Buoni wasnt done spreading the plastic love. He started up his own series of toy gatherings in 2005 called Mikeys Toy & Comic Shows. This Saturday at the Pompano Elks Lodge (700 NE 10th St., Pompano Beach) Buoni will hold his fifth event. Therell be over 30 vendors hocking retro and contemporary collectables including merch from cartoons, sci-fi and horror flicks, anime, video games, and more, plus about a third of the show floor dedicated to comics and graphic novels. The theme is the ΄80s (natch), so collectable fans are invited to come dressed as their favorite characters from that decade or simply wear a killer, theme-appropriate T-shirt. Therell be a costume contest, raffles throughout the afternoon (free with the $5 admission), and an appearance/autograph signing by actress Cindy Morgan she was in Caddyshack and Tron!
