Take a picture: It lasts longer

The spirit of blithe spontaneity is alive and well in the photographic community — thanks to Lomography. With a rallying cry of “don’t think, just shoot,” cellulose-loving lomographers all over the world are uniting with the mission to shoot anything and everything with their cool Lomo cameras. You’ve seen them: The cameras range from a single lens point-and-shoot style to a nine lensed monstrosity that snaps up to nine images at once, then arranges them in the pop art style made famous by Andy Warhol. The photos produced range from perfectly crisp and clear to blurry and sometimes ghost-like, but they’re always beautiful. And forever unique.

Since no experience is required to master the craft, anyone can become part of this growing high-art community. To join the photographic revolution, stop by “Everything/Everyday,” the Lomographesque photo exhibit at the Bear and Bird Boutique and Gallery (4566 N. University Dr., Lauderhill, above Tate’s Comics) starting on Friday at 7 p.m. The show runs through June 7. Call 954-748-0181, or visit www.bearandbird.com.
