Come out, come out, you jazz aficionados hiding in smoky, dark clubs. Let your Vitamin D-deprived skin cells soak in the rays while your ears take in the sounds of the ninth annual 2008 JVC Jazz Festival Miami, held entirely outdoors for the first time. Performances start at the Van Dyke Café (846 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach) at 5 p.m. on the Friday and end Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the same spot with a gospel jazz brunch. There’s another performance at the Van Dyke at 5 p.m. on the Saturday, but the bigger names — like Grammy Award-winning musician Sergio Mendes — can be found serving up bossa nova, pop, and jazz at Bayfront Park Amphitheater (301 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) starting at the same time. By 9 p.m., the event will have moved to the Raleigh Hotel (1775 Collins Ave., Miami). Some events are free, while others cost up to $95. Call 877-655-4TIX, or visit www.MIAJazzFest.com.
