A Really Good Reefer Joint

Four months ago in this very publication, we announced the first local Reef Fest rally — called Reef Rally — to take place at Alligator Alley (1831 E. Commercial Blvd., Oakland Park). We told you that Reef Fest is a series of ideologically linked concerts taking place across the nation to save coral reefs around the globe, and we touched on some of the many dangers posed to those coral reefs by mankind’s constant consumption and relentless shitting: millions of tons of raw effluent in the water, global warming-bleached coral, the profound over-fishing of algae grazers, and the wanton destruction wrought by carelessly dropped anchors.

Well, now the last Reef concert being held at Alligator Alley is upon us, like the previous installments of the series it will feature heavy hitters of the jazz, funk, and assorted swamp sounds persuasion. On the two-day showcase you’ll get a chance to see David Shelley Band, G. Cole, Celtic Mayhem, Sweet Spot, Joey George, Brian J. Klein, Bonefish Johnny, and more. Be a drunken, happy attendee tonight and again tomorrow during the two-day Reef Rally showcase. Admission is cheap as hell ($5 per night). Visit www.reeffest.org for more info.
