There was a time not too long ago that many people had legitimate fears that computers would take over their jobs and render them obsolete. Along came Michael Winslow, giving everyone hope that no matter how awesome technology gets, there’s always a place for the old school technophobes. Winslow is most famous for his role as Larvell Jones in the Police Academy films as the one-man sound effects machine; however his role as the voice of the Mogwai and several Gremlins in the 1984 film is what truly endears him in the hearts of every human worth drawing breath. Nowadays, he lends his voice to video games and cartoons when he’s not honing his stand up act, which you can catch at the New York Comedy Club Boca (8221 Glades Rd., Boca Raton) on Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets start at $15, and all shows carry a two-drink minimum. Call 561-470-6887, or visit www.nyccboca.com.
