More About

After making his name in the mid-1960s when he joined drummer Chico Hamilton's band, Central Florida-based guitarist Larry Coryell went on to become a major proponent of jazz-rock fusion alongside the likes of Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke. In fact, he recorded and performed in the 1970s with both of those legends and has worked as a sideman and bandleader for years since. After an acoustic phase in the '80s that followed a short-lived guitar trio with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia, Coryell returned to straight-ahead jazz and has not looked back. Also a part-time educator, he has released several tutorial videos on the art and approach of jazz guitar while keeping a regular touring and recording schedule. For his upcoming appearance in town, he will be backed by Silvano Monasterios (piano), plus former Pat Metheny Group members Paul Wertico (drums) and Mark Egan (bass), all of whom have accomplished careers in their own right. If you love jazz fusion, this is a show you shouldn't miss.
