The comedy world is mourning the passing of a legend, George Carlin, and what better way to celebrate his life than to support the art form he helped put on the map: Stand-up comedy! This weekend, the Palm Beach Improv (550 S. Rosemary Ave., Suite 250, West Palm Beach) plays host to Mike Epps, a cat whose turn as Ice Cube’s sidekick in Next Friday and Friday After Next earned him countless praise and cult status among the ever finicky stoner crowd. Epps was discovered by Mr. Cube while performing in a Los Angeles comedy club, and began his rise to stardom on Def Comedy Jam. So it was his stand-up, not his acting (thank God) that was funny enough to land him roles in blockbuster films. Epps has even come full circle: He got to host Def Comedy Jam himself and is slated to play another stand-up comedy legend, Richard Pryor, in an upcoming biopic. See what all the fuss is about when Mike Epps performs Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets cost $31.80 and carry a two drink minimum.
