How Zo Got His Groove BackBy John LinnPublished on July 10, 2008 at 12:01amOK, so the Heats last season was the pits. With a record of 15-and-67, their 2007-2008 effort was among the worst in NBA history. But we shouldnt be fair-weather fans instead, we should remember all the things the Heat have given us in the past. That NBA Championship is a good start. Even better: Alonzo Mourning. No other professional athlete has given as much back to South Florida as Zo. Through his personal charities, Zo has gone from defending the paint to defending at-risk families and needy children. This weekend marks the start of the NBA stars annual charity fundraising event, Zos Summer Groove a series of concerts, comedy nights, and sporting events scattered across Dade and Broward counties. To help him with his cause, Zos enlisted the help of fellow Heat Champion Dwyane Wade, a charitable guy in his own right. Tonight, the pair will host the Heineken ZSG Comedy Show starting at 8 p.m. at Hard Rock Live (5747 Seminole Way, Hollywood). The one time foul-mouthed star of Rush Hour and Friday, Chris Tucker, will headline the gig along with Miami-based comic Jay Lamont. Tickets start at $65, and all proceeds benefit Alonzo Mourning Charities and the Wades World Foundation, natch. Visit www.ticketmaster.com.
