Published on July 17, 2008
Its hard to imagine, but even within a group whose emblem is an all-encompassing rainbow flag, more diversity is needed. If some of this summers Pride events looked more like Abercrombie & Fitch ads to you than a true showing of the populace, head to Miami Beach Bruthaz weekend. Known as the largest party for men of color, Miami Beach Bruthaz is open to everyone. The weekend includes fashion shows, socials, and barbeques, and today is their chill farewell. Guests staying at the host hotel, Hilton Bentley Beach, (101 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach) get a poolside brunch at noon before meeting up with others at Lucky Strike Lanes (1691 Michigan Avenue, Miami Beach) for bowling at 2 p.m. A martini social at an undisclosed location happens at 9 p.m. A full weekend pass is $150 dollars but events can be purchased separately.
