Shell Shocked

If you consider the late-sixties psych/sapsters The Turtles as being: “That band that sang ‘Happy Together,’” you need to revisit them. Their arsenal of hit singles runs the gambit of poppy ditties, like “She’d Rather be With Me” and “You Baby (Ain’t Nobody but You),” to the swingin’ serenade “Elenore.” After the group dissolved, Flo and Eddie kept right on rockin’, first with Zappa and the gang, then on the air as radio personalities. They’ve remained staples of the industry, singing back up for the Ramones, T-Rex, Psychedelic Furs, and Steely Dan and they’re still touring and charming every crowd in their path.
