She’s a Fragile F’n Flower

It happened just as Kathy Griffin caught a whiff of her own skin burning. Her efforts to reach mass-fame status had landed her a spot on the lower-tier reality game show Celebrity Mole Hawaii. To win — and win she did — Griffin forced herself to tread barefoot across a pathway of searing hot coals. It was this desperate, shameless act that brought her to a humbling understanding: She is a D-List Celebrity.

In typical Griffin style, she didn’t mourn her exile from Hollywood’s inner-circle — in fact, she embraced it, an act that led to her getting her own reality show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. She’s since used that coveted Bravo timeslot to exploit her bottom-feeder fame, a shtick that she’s done with such pizzazz that the Emmy Awards committee took note and tossed her a statue. You can see this sassy, brassy, belle perform in 3D today at Hard Rock Live (One Seminole Way, Hollywood) at 8 p.m. Tickets range $49 to $79. Call 954-523-3309, or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
