This sweaty, sticky summer hasn’t been good to SoFla’s garage rock fans. Aside from local groups, who — praise be — have been innovatively playing everywhere from museums to retail stores, we’ve experienced a drought in kick-ass touring rock acts. Thankfully, kiddos, sweet relief named the Boss Martians is kickin’ up dust on our sacred Florida Highway right this minute. And when it arrives, the weather will change in our favor.

Catchier than the clap? Sure. Poppier than Rice Krispies? Yup. Snottier than the filter of an over-chlorinated swimming pool? Hell ya’. This group of surf rockers turned garage poppers have a knack for exhuming the soul of the ’60s lo-fi sound and fusing it with easily contractible melodies. Catch a mean case of Boss Martians tonight at Churchill’s Pub (5501 NE Second Ave., Miami), with local talents Mad Martiga, Psycho Daisies, Life of Seals, and the Dirty Boxes. Or save it up for tomorrow at Mr. G’s (2650 S. Military Trail, W. Palm Beach), where they’ll be playing with Atom Bomb, the Ruins, Danger Bang, and Angry Pudding. Tickets cost $8. Visit www.newartschool.net for the Miami show and www.sickboylive.com for the Palm Beach show.
