Aging Queers

One of the greatest bands in the history of punk rock, the Queers, has been playing its signature blend of in-your-face-ruckus for more than 26 years. That’s an awfully long time to do anything, much less play three-chord tunes to an increasingly jaded fan base. Thankfully, Joe Queer and the boys have trudged through the Good Charlotte years unscathed. They continue to produce a sound that some describe as a mixture of the Ramones and the Beach Boys — it’s basically tongue-in-cheek pop punk without the eyeliner (an overwhelming concern for appearance has plagued the genre for over a decade now). Check out the Queers with the Independents and more at Churchill’s (5501 N.E. Second Ave, Miami) Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Sorry kids, the show is 18+ only. Sat., Sept. 13, 8 p.m., 2008
