Dark Wave Masquerade

This month’s Foundation Fridays kicks off the costume-wearing season with a good old-fashioned masquerade ball. Ballroom gowns, corsets, walking canes, top hats — it’s all good as long as you’ve got a mask. Oh, and feel free to double-up on the eyeliner. Resident DJs Floyd Kelley, Jeffrey Wrye, KloV, and DJ Messiah have darker-than-usual set lists planned. That means bands like Bauhaus, the Sisters of Mercy, and Dead Can Dance along with labels like Nettwerk, 4AD, Play It Again Sam, and Metropolis. It’s safe to say you probably won’t see too many Donny Osmond masks. The only thing less popular than that will be people wearing no mask at all. You’ll find them hanging out with teenagers in the parking lot across the street, wondering why they weren’t allowed to a masquerade ball without a mask. Meanwhile, their buddies inside will be enjoying $2 cups of Yuengling and $3 cups of Russian Standard vodka. The free event starts at 9 p.m. and is for 21 and up only.
