Laughing at Old People

If you’ve seen any of the great, African-American comedies of the past few decades, chances are you’ve seen John Witherspoon show up in at least one. He seems to be the go-to guy to play the stereotypical old and cranky black dad. Whether he’s trying to “coordinate” his mushroom pants with his mushroom belt or telling you to put water on your cereal due to lack of milk, John Witherspoon’s spastic and speedy delivery has never made laughing at senior citizens so much fun. It’s a trait that’s especially applicable in South Florida, a place where we have a chance to laugh at them…er, laugh with them, on a regular basis.
