Whether he’s spotting Judge Judy at a flea market in France, attempting to slay a dragon-sized poo in a public toilet, or teaching college creative writing classes about plot structure (based on daytime soap operas), you get the feeling that Sedaris’ life is simply more interesting than yours, or anyone else’s for that matter. It’s his gift for animating these conversational yarns in a subversive, riotous way. And now — you lucky, lucky, duck — Sedaris is waxing his bikini line and coming to Miami.

You can put facial expressions to that distinctively self-deprecating voice tonight when David Sedaris reads from his latest best seller, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, at the Arsht Center (1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Knowing Sedaris, you’ll also be privy to unpublished anecdotes from his diary, daily mishaps, and family crises. A Q&A is scheduled to follow, but if past experience is any example, asking if he can introduce you to his sister won’t get you in the Sedaris family fold. So don’t even bother.
