In the sleepy and slightly depressing streets of Coral Springs – even on a Saturday night – relief is hard to come by for insomniacs in need of a fix for, well, something – anything – to do. But alas, I have found a cure – a hope for Coral Springs' night owls.  JD's Bar & Lounge can be found under bright-green letters like lanterns warding off the dreary night. It summons DJs and live bands. Sets up poker tables and welcomes tourneys. It brings college and pro football games to a passionate crowd and cranks up the volume. But most important, it grants refuge to happy, tipsy people still awake past midnight. The corps of servers and barkeeps is young, but the clientele runs the gamut: from 20-something, jersey-clad beer- and Sex on the Beach-drinking couples to groups of elder statesmen with an affinity for whiskey and gambling. JD's has the easy disposition of a neighborhood lounge but all the amenities of a well-heeled sports bar. During some games, you'll find that JD's staff cuts the music off to accommodate heated banter, the dissection of plays, and obscenity-laden merriment. Thursday is steak night (get your teeth around a hand-cut, hand-trimmed New York strip for a special price). Friday and Saturday nights, bands like No Excuses take the stage. On Sundays and Mondays, be sure to ask about the NFL specials. JD's is open daily from noon to 2 a.m., but its happiest hour is from 3 to 7 p.m.
