Industrial Factory

The Ruhr area is the center of Germany’s industrial past; it was a hub of steel, coal, and roughneck miners. After the war, it became a hub of international tensions and a pissed-off working class. Today it’s a hub of technology, culture, and badass music. SITD (shorthand for Shadows in the Dark), a trio made up of Carsten Jacek, Tom Lesczenski, and Frank D’Angelo, is a product of that complex environment. SITD synthesizes a dark industrial past with a hopeful, harmonic present to create electronic body music that simultaneously conjures images of castles and vampires, and light shows and raves. It’s a synthesis that has earned them a global following in the EBM scene.

Now in support of their third studio album, Bestie: Mensch, SITD makes its way to the States for the first time, including a show tonight at Respectable Street (518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach). Imperative Reaction shares headlining honors with SITD, and Aesthetic Perfection gets the show started. Doors open at 8 p.m.; tickets cost $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
