They Walk Among Us

You haven’t heard of them, they are not rich, and they may even have day jobs. Nevertheless, there are honest-to-god filmmakers right here in Florida, and this is your chance to meet them. Today at 9:30 p.m. at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE 6 Street, Fort Lauderdale), the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival will screen nine short films from Floridian filmmakers. The films are mostly dramas (a freed criminal obsessively tidies his house while awaiting a visit from his parole officer; a man tries to figure out how to tell his wife some extremely heavy news; a dude stuck in an airport terminal battles an atrocious case of amnesia), plus a little comedy (a man tries to make light of killing his lover’s cat while simultaneously arousing her passion). You can see all nine flicks for $9. Call 954-760-9898, or visit fliff.com.
