Reality BV is like that brand new hip-hop LP or cassette you would grab off the top shelf at your local music shop in the '90s. It's always blaring through your speakers or headphones until the lyrics are committed to memory and your pulse matches the beats almost perfectly. Now fresh for 2008, Butta Verses (who was born in the Bronx and lives in Coral Springs) delivers a solid 17-track disc, updating that formula for the times. Taking a look at his life experiences in between clever metaphors and crafty productions, Butta delves into funny female escapades on "Not for Fun," offers pure b-boy energy on "Fire," and a comical look at the industry on "Change the World," backed by the understandably smooth vocals of local R&B singer Lucian. The record flows throughout, and is put together in a way where you can vibe with Butta's witty lyricism, but his rhymes aren't so over your head that you'll need a dictionary to understand them. Joell Ortiz & A-Butta drop in as guests bringing plenty of New York flavor, while Marco Polo and the GCD crew keep the beats hot like a South Florida summer.
