With the exception of your love of Lisa Simpson's collaboration with Bleeding Gums Murphy, an attentive ear at the beginning and ending credits of Woody Allen films, and a pension for using "jazz hands" to emphasize an important point when you're giving a presentation -- your knowledge of jazz probably leaves a little to be desired. Bone up on this uniquely American musical genre and lifestyle with the Jazz Talk Series presented by University of Miami's Frost School of Music at the Museum of Contemporary Art (770 NE 125 St., Miami). Tonight's installment features a 7:30 p.m. talk by professor Larry Lapin on the history of jazz vocal groups followed by an 8 p.m. live performance by jazz, bebop and swing combo Mad Romance. The free series runs through February on the last Friday of each month. Call 305-893-6211, or visit mocanomi.org.
Last Friday of every month, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 28. Continues through March 1, 2008
