Fan favorite tough guy, Wade Belak, was waived by the Panthers. Luckily for us, he cleared waivers and the universally unpopular move didn’t necessarily end his days as a Cat, and from that sticky situation something great might grow: a new sense of team unity. The locker room rallied around Belak, voicing universal displeasure at the decision. Maybe the front office really wanted to get rid of him, or maybe just to send a message that even veteran players need to know their role: Scorers score and fighters fight. Whatever the logic, everyone needs to be in top form if the Panthers want to stop the Boston Bruins, tonight.

Phil Kessel, Marc Savard, and Zdeno Chara will give Vokun fits if the Cats don’t finish their checks and play good, tight defense this evening at the Bank Atlantic Center (One Panther Pkwy., Sunrise). Check it out at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. Tickets are at cheap as $17; visit ticketmaster.com, or call 954-835-7825.
