Winners Go Home and Boink the Prom Queen

Watch the Fins try to seal the deal at their final home game

Just two minutes, 40 seconds into week two of the Dolphin's NFL season, right about the time that Arizona Cardinal's receiver Anquan Boldin sprinted past coverage and took an average pass from Kurt Warner for 79 yards to paydirt, a collective grown sputtered forth from Homestead to Hobe Sound. Twelve minutes and 31 seconds into week three, when running back Ronnie Brown and the wildcat offense began an unlikely rout of New England, that collective grown grew some balls and became a wail. Neither the fans, nor the Dolphins, have looked back since.

Now here it is, week 14, and for the first time since 2003, the Fins are a legitimate playoff contender. The boys in aqua have a winning record and a giant-killing attitude. But most importantly, the specter of 1-15, which once loomed large over another coaching change, is no where in sight. At 1 p.m. today, the Dolphins will face another must-win game in a season full of them, as the San Francisco 49ers come to town. It will be tough not to look past the surging ’Niners and their stalwart interim coach, Mike Singletary — specifically to December 28, when the Fins play the Jets in a game that could decide the division. But everything points to the Dolphins playing well at this, their last home game of the regular season. Get your final fix of that winning anthem when the two teams face off at Dolphin Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami). Tickets start at $41. Call 888-FINS-TIX, or visit ticketmaster.com.
