Christmas Gator

They say it's the most wonderful time of the year. What they don't tell you is that it's because of Alligator Alley's Christmas Eve party. This year there will be all kinds of getting down as Felix and Julius Pastorius (sons of legendary jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius) and Colin James rock the jazz and funk tunes. Owner Carl "Kilmo" Pacillo will once again uncask his famous egg nog. The egg nog is Kilmo's secret recipe and dates back to the 1950s. "It's homemade from scratch," says Kilmo. "And I've been making it every year for the past 30 years. It's infamous if not downright famous." Sweet. But in honor of another tradition at the Alley, most of us will be camped out by the bar, sitting under the mistletoe with Eleven Nut Brown Ale, Seven Thunderhead Red Ale, Shipyard Seasonal, and a bunch of other micros worthy of holiday cheers. Kilmo's got the holiday grub down pat too. The Alley's traditional Italian Christmas Eve dinner features a homemade marinara sauce with or without clams, mussels, calamari and crabs served over linguine ($13.95). The celebration begins when the doors open at 6 p.m. today. Call 954-771-2220 for more information.
Wed., Dec. 24, 6 p.m., 2008
