Ten days into those New Year's resolutions, and it's a pretty safe bet that a large percentage of us roundish Americans have vowed to lose weight. Rather than face this task with grim asceticism, take inspiration from John Pinette. The big man of comedy is smaller these days, having lost mucho poundage. He has not, however, lost his sense of humor. Pinette's comedy covers his love of buffets and the travails of dieting, with such treats as, "Salad isn’t food. Salad comes with food. Salad is a promissory note that something good is going to happen … and I should wait right here."

Get to the Palm Beach Improv at 550 S Rosemary Ave. in West Palm Beach this Saturday night. Something good might happen, too - you may laugh your ass right off! Shows are at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., with tickets costing an exact $21.30 per seat, plus a classic two drink minimum. Visit palmbeachimprov.com for more details.
