Out of Miami

As fans of electronic music in South Florida, you're well accustomed to hauling your tracksuit-wearing butt down to Miami for every major event worth seeing, from Ultra to WMC. But today, it's the Miami-denizens who will have to truck it if they want to catch one hell of an electronic show. The PURE Music Festival is bringing the non-stop thump of trance, house, and drum n' bass to the Meyer Amphitheater in West Palm Beach. And although it's the first iteration of what organizers hope will be yearly event, PURE looks to be much more than a rookie effort.

The 14-hour-long session will feature veteran Florida-based deck wizards George Acosta, DJ Baby Anne, and Jen Lasher, a veritable dream team of in-state acts. But PURE won't stop at the panhandle. Also on the docket are high-profile East Coast spinsters like New York's Steve Porter, a well-known house DJ who's worked with Sander Kleinenberg; and Evol Intent, a hardcore-influenced three piece who pound jungle beats out of Atlanta. The fest proper will run from 2 p.m. to 10 at the Amphitheater. Afterwards, clubs all across Clematis Street will light up with afterparties that will rage till 4 a.m.
