Spend the Sabbath With Those You Love

True metal connoisseurs have flings with loads of bands: It’s experimentation, it’s safe and healthy, and you have nothing to be ashamed of. But once the afterglow of Metallica wears thin, or the novelty of Megadeth no longer has you “Sweatin’ Bullets,” you know one band will always bring the rock. Yes, Black Sabbath.

Who was there for you when you skipped prom to stay home and shred? Sabbath, that’s who. What tattoo kept you from getting a job anywhere but at a biker bar or a snake farm? Your Sabbath tattoo, buddy. You’d do anything to see Ozzy and the boys live, but let’s face it, your snake handler’s salary makes that dream damn near impossible.

Saturday night you can get close to your metal fantasy by catching War Pigs at City Limits. This tribute band isn’t an after-hours Guitar Center jam session; it features mid-’80s Sabbath bass player, Dave “The Beast” Spitz, and it rocks. Hard. So show up, close your eyes, and unleash the hair. You’ve earned it.
