Blowing in the Wind

Chistopher Plummer stars in Wind Across the Everglades, a seminal film about environmental protection and poaching that also happens to include Seminoles. Members of the tribe will be in attendance. The film follows the fashion “feather craze” that destroyed much of the wild bird population in South Florida during the 1950s. It was also filmed in Everglades National Park. Mary Osceola, a relative of Chief Osceola, stars in the film, and will appear to discuss it along with Plummer. The film is rarely seen, and Paradiso has the only 35mm print in existence today. Wind was also Peter Falk's debut roll, and stars Gypsy Rose Lee, Burl Ives, and Emmett Kelly.
