Freezin' For a Reason

Join U.S. Olympic silver medalist Dara Torres as well and other celebrity athletes as they take a plunge into freezing waters to benefit Special Olympics.

The Mullin's Park Swimming Pool (10000 NW 29 St., Coral Springs) will be filled with icecubes until it reaches a frosty 35 degrees. Swimmers can donate $25 a piece to take a dip in the cool waters along with Torres. In addition to the frozen swim, organizers will hand out awards to for the highest fundraising, the team with the highest fundraising, best costume, and largest team membership.

Proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics, as well as the Coach Michael Lohberg Foundation, created to assist Lohberg, Torres' Olympic swimming coach, who was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia.
