Irish Folk Tales

Irish playwright Conor McPherson's The Weir opens at the Palm Beach Dramaworks this weekend, which means you can expect a gritty narrative full of folklore and mystery. In the Weir, a group of men whole up in a tavern, where they exchange ghost stories in an attempt to attract a young woman who recently moved into a "haunted house." McPherson has a knack for a tale within a tale, commanding his characters to drive the plot through their own stories.

Stars Frank Converse, Dennis Creaghan, Karl Hanover, Lena Kaminsky and Declan Mooney.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Feb. 20. Continues through April 5, 2009
