One Man Noise Band

When you hear the description “one-man band,” you may conjure up images of an artist on the street corner dressed in an obnoxious suit and top hat. He's got a guitar in one hand, a giant bass drum strapped to his back, a harmonica dangling from his chin, and a bicycle horn close to his heart. While performing a la Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins may be rewarded with spare change and laughs, few would consider it more than a novelty act.

Enter avant-garde musician Kenny Millions. Millions has been playing as a one-man-band for more than 30 years. Just don't think of him as a song-and-dance man. Combining the noisiness of saxophone, distorted guitar, and clarinet, Kenny has helped mold what can only be called the “PunkJazzNoise” genre. His unusual talents have to be seen and heard (loudly, I might add) to be believed. He’ll be sharing his explosion of sound with other experimental Miami acts Alex Diaz and Omar Roque this Thursday evening at 7 at Radio-Active Records.

Radio-Active Records is planted at 1930 E. Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Admission is free. Call 954-762-9488 for more info.
Last Saturday of every month, 7 p.m.; Thu., Sept. 24, 2009
