Putting the "Arty" in Party

Stimulate your senses at the New Times Artopia.

Miami’s Art Basel hangover lasts for at least a month or two, and then the natives start getting restless again. And Saturday night’s alright for gallery crawls, but sometimes an art fan just needs more than passé exhibits, thimble-size cups of room temperature wine, and ubiquitous bottles of Grolsch to quench their cultural desires. Hang tight; we’ve got something special for ya. Imagine a world where art, live music, fashion, film, and performance blend into an intoxicating swirl, complete with complimentary drinks and hors d’ oeuvres. Imagine Artopia, an evening of cultural fusion brought to you by New Times and the Miami International Film Festival.

The Miami International Film Festival will provide visual treats and sneak previews of their upcoming screenings while Nil Lara provides sonic entertainment. Kayce Armstrong’s distressed and remixed Art of Shade fashions will take center stage, and DJ Carmel Ophir and DJ Ryan Evans will keep the party bumpin’.

Come on out to the beautiful Charcoal Studio, found at 2135 NW First Ave. in Miami, and experience Artopia yourself. It goes down tonight from 7 to 11. Tickets cost $20 at the door; only art-lovers over age 21 are allowed entry. Visit miaminewtimes.com/microsites/artopia for additional details.
