Call to Action

Spend International Women’s Day meditating on mobilization!

Bui My Hahn rallies in Vietnam against the misconception that HIV/AIDS is the fault of those stricken; Jacqueline Dembele defends the right of migrant girls in Mali to an education; and in the war ravaged country of Bosnia, Nada Markovic rebuilds relations between Serbs and Bosniaks. The stories of these badass women and their crusades for change are woven together in the documentary, A Powerful Noise, meant to inspire and incite action. The film screens tonight (International Women's Day) at only 450 US theaters, followed by a simulcast discussion with women’s advocates, including Madeline Albright, Natalie Portman, and Dr. Helene Gayle. The message is that we each have a powerful voice and we should use them. Maybe we don’t yet feel we can change the world, but we can certainly get off our asses and get to a movie theater in support of our sisters across the globe!

Cheer ‘em on at Magnolia Place 16, located at 9645 Westview Dr. in Coral Springs, or Cypress Creek Station 16, at 6415 N. Andrews Ave. in Ft. Lauderdale. The film starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets cost $15. Hit up apowerfulnoise.org for more info and inspiration.
