Purim Me Another One, Barkeep

Young Jews celebrate the Holy Day at Off the Hookah

Purim is a Jewish Holiday that commemorates the escape of the Chosen People from annihilation at the hands of the Persian, Haman (“get in line, Haman,” they must’ve said). So what better way to observe Purim than to enjoy all that’s good in life?: namely, booze, smoke, and good friends. Join Downtown Jewish as they host the Rockin’ Purim Party at Off the Hookah tonight. Yes, there will be the traditional reading of Megilla, the story of the Jewish victory over Haman as described in the Book of Esther. But there will also be a fine spread of Kosher eats, an open bar from 8 to 9 p.m., and tunes from Skafyah, the best darned Hassidic Reggae band to rock South Florida since the Flood.

All you have to do is grab a ra'ashan noisemaker in one a hand, a drink in the other, and get ready to party like a gentile at 300 SW First Ave., Ste. 103, in Fort Lauderdale. Kicking in a $15 suggested donation at the door is always good form. Visit downtownjewish.com.
